A Practical Guide to English Language Curriculum Development in an Academic Context: Creating, Vitalizing anduating is the fruit of collaboration betvveen colleagues at Sabancı University School of Languages, İstanbul, Turkey. The editors, Leah Bosvvorth and Jonathan Smith, vvorked together there in the Curriculum Team from 2005 to 2012. During that time they were initiators of curricular innovation and involved in institutional development.
Leah and Jonathan have taught different age groups at ali levels of proficiency, in a variety of ELT contexts but mainly preparing learners for academic study in English. During their careers, they have also taken on various roles and responsibilitıes. These management and coordination; syllabus and curriculum design; assessment anduation; and teacher development and mentoring.
Leah has taught in Northern Cyprus, Morocco, the UK, and Turkey and is currently an ESL Instructor at Idyllvvild Arts Academy, California. She has a BSc from Plymouth University and has a diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults. Her interests course design, tutorial support and autonomous learning.
